Read about our popular fundraising event, the Trivia Challenge.

Read for the Record on October 2, 2008: This year's event was our most successful to date, with over 330 children sharing the story Corduroy at six different sites!  Worldwide over 425,000 participants shattered last year's record for the largest shared reading experience in world history!

Project Read presented our third annual Read for the Record event with six satellite sites. Sixty-eight children attended our main event at Daly City War Memorial.

We thank Daly City Mayor Carol Klatt , the official witness, and City Manager Pat Martel for reading Corduroy. Fernando, our tutor/student coordinator read the book in Spanish.  We also want to thank Daly City Public Library Director Carol Simmons, library staff members, Cathie Scalice and Chela Anderson, and Daly City firefighters, Timo Reyes, Jason Hamilton, and Dan Reed from Fire Station Engine 92 for supporting the event.  We had over twenty volunteers helping with craft activities, refreshments from Starbucks, and a visit from the fire department.  Corduroy

Our event culminated with a visit from a life-sized Corduroy! Children got their pictures taken and received goodie bags from Corduroy. Two hundred and sixty two preschool children were read to at our satellite sites. We gave out a total of 300 (200 in English and 100 in Spanish) copies of Corduroy.
